Great Cooktop!

I had to replace my cooktop unit after having the other one for 30 years. After researching we settled for this KitchenAid, to say we are happy with it would be an understatement. We cook on it multiple times a day. It always has consistent heating which is a must when cooking. It is very simple to clean when you have a spill which happens often as much as we are in the kitchen. We LOVE our KitchenAid products!

This is a great cooktop, cooks well, cleans up easily when you follow the Affresh cleaner directions and occasionally a razor blade...placement of knobs is ideal and brings the cooking surface closer to you.....one discrepancy is the knob holders are "glued" to the cooktop...yes I said glued and since heat and glue don't mix well in a month I had a warranty service to put a new one on that had come loose...$65 retail for this small part with doubled sided glue on it....not sure why they didn't imbed this part into the top so as to avoid this problem which probably will be constant since like I said heat and glue don't mix well...hence warranty extended coverage! But should not have to worry about this....

The cooktop does a great job cooking. The control knobs take a little getting use to figuring out which way to turn for high & low settings. The only thing with the cooktop is cleaning it. Wipe, wipe, wipe and it still leaves sludge marks.

I purchased an electric cooktop 4 years ago and one of the large burners now only partially works ™ the outer ™ring™ is fine, but the inner ring doesn™™t work at all. It is beyond disappointing that a KitchenAid appliance, which I paid $1365 for, would cease to work after only 4 years. I first attempted to communicate online with their chat. Despite entering and sending several messages that way, no response was ever received. I waited a LONG time. Then, I tried calling. I entered the phone number associated with the order, and was told there was nothing associated with the order. To make a very long story short, I FINALLY got through to a live person. Somehow, providing my phone number DID bring up my purchase. I explained the issue ™ that the burner no longer worked ™ and was told my extended warranty had expired (which I knew; it was for 3 years) and that I could either buy a service plan now at $37.79 a month for 12 months (I had to pay for the full year), or I could pay $378 up front today and they would send someone out. After much back and forth, and my pointing out that it failed after only 4 years, I was told that the part might be covered. WHAT? Why wasn™™t I told that up front, before being offered options at significant expense? I find that to be pretty sketchy. After providing the part number for the burner (my husband looked it up) she came back and told me that it might be a different part and that someone would have to come out and look. I explained that the outer rings work - only the inner rings don't - and wouldn't that be an indication that it's the burner? I asked can't you check with a technician? She said they're all out in the field, so no. And she also said the warranty on the parts is vague. Vague? Anyhow, she said they contract with a company and it would cost $139 for someone to come out and look at it. We then asked whether there would be an additional service fee on top of the $139 and she said she didn™™t know because they contract with this company. We asked for the company name so we could contact them to find out. I will not mention the company name here, but reviews of this company were Google were 2.8 and 1.5 on Yelp. Not very encouraging. After reading many of the reviews, we will not use them! I am so frustrated. I™™ve spent more than two hours dealing with this with no satisfactory resolution. I™™ve had several KitchenAid appliances and never would I have expected an expensive major appliance to fail so soon. At this point, I guess we will have to order and pay for a part that we were told is COVERED (the burner element) and hire someone to install it. Ridiculous.

I™™ve used the cooktop for about 2 months and it works great. I used the dual burners for my griddle and it seems to balance out nicely. I bought this model because I like knobs and not touch screen and they have good start /stop points. Only complaint would be the farthest knob is hard to tell the exact setting.

The first cooktop I received out of the box had to be returned because it was warped and wouldn't sit flat on my new perfectly flat quartz countertop. The second one sat perfectly. I bought it because only KitchenAid and Whirlpool had controls on the right-hand side. Manufacturers who put the controls at the centre have rocks in their heads because the front of the cooktop has a hurdle to get over when setting pots on or using it as a safe surface when taking trays or anything out of the wall oven. It is a useful surface that is necessary for me to access and use without bumping into front controls. I feel SO strongly about this because on the right hand side they are out of the way. Most people are right handed. One issue that took a bit of getting used to and was not thought out was that the knobs don't operate the same from knob to knob. I thought there was something wrong with the 2-burner part of the front knob because the high heat is at 7 o'clock position. All knobs should be the same, pick one and make them all the same. If you have to go to the 1 o'clock position for high heat on the same knob but for the single burner, it is awkward. Personally, I would like high heat section on all knobs to be 11 o'clock for dual burners and 1 o'clock for single burners on the same knob. Burners with a single element should have high heat at the 1 o'clock position. Other than issues mentioned it is a very good cooktop.

Have always had Kitchen Aid appliances. The last cooktop was great, but, this one leaves much to be desired. I was able to clean my old one, with cooktop cleaner, but not this one. I am very careful about how I take care of things, but this cooktop doesn™™t respond to the cleaner very well. And it has marks on each burner that I have used. The cleaner doesn™™t touch it. Very disappointing!! Wish I had never put in this brand. The new microwave also leaves much to be desired. Also, no instructions with it and too hard to find the right one for the microwave online.

30™ Cooktop Glass Electric - Total lemon fire risk
MadMomma8998
7/10/2024
Within 48 hours of delivery (and upon first use) the cooktop started smoking from the first primary burner knob. Customer service refused a refund and return stating that a service call was mandatory since unit was smoking and had been turned on. Forced to schedule service appointment that is 9 days away. Seems like I got a lemon for $1400. Worst KitchenAid experience. I™™ve loved this company in the past but this is unforgivable and so incredibly unsafe to force me to keep this appliance installed in my home for another 9 days - then not even knowing if it will/can be fixed safely. My trust has been broken, even if this unit is fixable I don™™t trust the safety of the item for any length of time. I™™m appalled at the responseand praying my house doesn™™t catch fire from this hazardous appliance.

couple of things, one, i wish i'd gotten 4 not 5 burners (don't really need that 5th) and do NOT like not all burners have consistent on and off. This cooktop is only good if you™™re heating up water!! If your pot has anything at bottom will scratch cooktop.!! Is poor quality. I purchased this cooktop and after first used it scratched. Then after 4 months of having it looks as if had it for years. My GE cooktop after many years never looked this bad. Is aesthetically pleasing, sleek but with no functionality. Is not worth the price.

I replaced a previous KitchenAid white cooktop with the same one in black, due to age. It is efficient, love the burner size choices and the 5 burners. I cook several times daily. The black surface is harder to keep clean than the white was, possibly due to the mirror finish. Even using a glass cooktop cleaner.
It is not going to look as nice 15 years down the line like the white cooktop did.

I enjoy my new cooktop. There is just a couple of things I need to get use to. It is hard to see where the burner rings are unless there is a light on or you turn the burner on first. Also, I wish that there was a light with the nobs to show where it is set, again unless you have a light on. Otherwise easy to clean and looks wonderful

Warning*Removal & Installation Offer
minteriors
1/31/2024
I'd love to say that my experience with KitchenAid has been wonderful, but it has not. They were running a program that allowed for removal of existing KitchenAid electric cooktop and installation of new KitchenAid electric cooktop. At first our delivery date was pushed by two weeks with no notification. I contacted KitchenAid/Whirlpool to find this out the day before our installation. The second date of delivery was confirmed, when the delivery/installation company (J.B.Hunt) contacted me the morning of, the individual communicated they were not qualified to install an electric cooktop and so they did not deliver and advised me to contact customer service at KitchenAid/Whirlpool. When I contacted customer service they rescheduled the delivery/install and promised they would send a qualified installer. When J.B. Hunt showed up, they communicated they could not install as they were also not qualified because the electrical hookup required an electrician to install and they are not electricians (i.e. not qualified to install an electric cooktop with electric hookup). The red flag was apparent, when they did not first turn off the circuit breaker to the cooktop prior to lifting it from my countertop to start the work. I feel KitchAid falsely advertised a service offering that their customer service team promoted, but could not provide. I now have to pay additional out of pocket costs for installation and removal of existing and am left trying to figure this all out while my cooktop sits in a box on the floor of my living room (not knowing if the product even works). To top it all off, Customer Service asked me to go to their website to view their terms and conditions, while doing so I saw the same range was currently on sale, so I asked if they could at the least refund me the sale price difference to go towards my out-of-pocket costs for installation/removal. They were unable to do accommodate my request which was reasonable.

The burner outline graphics are impossible to see when the burner is off. Must turn on an element and have it glowing to know where to put the pan. The knob-turn directions are not consistent. Clock-wise rotation will turn setting up on one knob and down on another knob.

Good features for a 30" cooktop that is stylish

The cooktop looks nice overall. I had to enlarge the original 30" standard opening in the granite to make this cooktop fit. I had to cut 3/4" on the front edge and 7/8" on either side. The depth was also a little deeper, so I had to modify the cabinet drawer under the cooktop to drop it 3/8" to make it still usable. I did not use the rubber strips on the underside edge during final installation because it would have been impossible to determine the exact position of the strips so they wouldn™™t mash out beyond the edge of the stainless steel cooktop edge once it was seated. I did not want them to be recessed either as food crumbs would get trapped under there. Instead, I just used a thin bead of clear caulk underneath to seal the edge. My granite is very level, so I have no gaps. It looks very precise and nicely fitted. The cooktop seems to work well and throws off a lot of heat. That was my first observation when my wife was cooking her first meal. I said, "Whoa! That thing throws off a lot of heat." I really like the five burners, which is why we wanted a new cooktop. I have a couple of issues. One is with the circular markings on the glass top. They are quite difficult to see to keep the pan centered. It's like the etching in the glass is too dark and thin. I also don't like not having markings or increments around the control knobs. They are just 'L' to 'H' and a sweeping arc. No tick marks that I can get familiar with for certain temperatures. I will need to learn this unit based on relative position instead. Overall, it™™s nice and seems to perform well.

Cooktop works and looks good, glass top scratches easy. Only have had a short time and try to be very careful using only flat bottom pots and pans and soft rags for cleaning but surface has already began scratching. Also, not sure why it was so hard to find a 30", 5 Burner with good size large burners and a configuration that you can actually use all the burners. This was one of few I was able to find. Cooktop came packaged nice and easy to intall. Happy with the cooktop, just wish there was a way to prevent the scratching.

Not happy with this product. Purchased in 2020 to replace my 10 year old General Electric (that was still working when I replaced). Thought I was receiving an upgrade; but unfortunately not. Due to Covid; this wasn't received and installed until 2021. Once installed; I noticed that one of the coils was not at all centered with the marked lines on the glasstop. However, it wasn't really noticable unless the coil was illumiated. It's now 2023 (just two years later) & the appliance doesn't come on at all. I was in the middle of cooking when all coils illumiated and popped (electrical is fine). Now Ktichenaid support is telling me that there are no local repair people for my appliance. On the search for repairman that I have to pay for myself. I was going to order the back-ordered wall oven and refrigerator I wanted with Kitchenaid as well; but that's probably not going to happen now. Should have sticked with GE. Cheaper and less disappontment. No quality in Kitchenaid.
