We had issues with our kitchen remodel and a different GE cooktop, so GE replaced it with this version, which was more expensive. Although some of our pots/pans don't work with the convection magnets, those that do work VERY well, and heating time is super quick! I like the look of this cooktop more than the cheaper one as well. The wifi connection is kind of pointless from what I can tell. It'll tell me in the app what burners are on and at what percentage, however, I can't turn them on/off with the app.

I just had a kitchen renovation and went with this cooktop. I have loved the ease of use and it's functionality. However, after owning it for less than 3 months, it won't turn on. Hoping it's nothing major. I have purchased all GE products in the last year...double oven, microwave and 2 fridges. Hoping they last longer than this one.

Mostly great experience using the unit, but it appears we received a defective unit - oil has been leaking through the cooktop into the cabinet below for the past year. We just had the unit uninstalled and reinstalled while having some kitchen work done, and our contractor alerted us to the situation that there is a large quantity of oil somehow in the unit itself - when he angled it to install a good amount dripped out. Trying to address this clearly defective unit with GE and get a replacement on order, GE has been extremely unhelpful so far.

The induction style cooking has certainly been a learning experience but overall we are very pleased. The ease of boiling water is phenomenal. Love having five burners but my favorite feature is the on stove timer. Also, it was a good excuse to replace our worn out cookware and use our cast iron more.

We have been wanting to convert from gas to induction for a while. We are very into cooking as are our kids (young adults) so we were hesitant. The new GE Profile 36-Inch Induction Cooktop is much improved over the 2011 version which I accidentally damaged. The new version looks better with stainless edging top and bottom and has better controls for precise temperature control. Also, the two ™burners™ on the left can be synced to accommodate an oblong roasting pan or a griddle. Can™™t wait to start cooking. Thanks, GE.

The cooktop works great, I have no problem at all. I had a GE profile Induction range in my other home and it had a small radiant burner for warming which I miss with this model. I also find the volume of the timer alert to be very low and can™™t be heard when the cooktop fan is running.

Summary: Induction is great, and I'm happy with this purchase, but there are a few things that weren't obvious to me before I bought it that are a little disappointing. First, I love induction: No fumes, it's really quiet, and the cooking is really responsive and controls are fine grained. Plus, the glass surface is really easy to clean up (and reduces the overall feeling of clutter in my kitchen). We upgraded from gas and are very happy. That said, there are some weaknesses. I have been able to work around them, but I wish I knew them before-hand. * The "power boil" isn't that great. It's faster than our gas cooktop, but only slightly faster than our counter-top induction cooktop that plugged into a normal wall outlet (rated at 1875W). I expected the 3700W elements to be much faster, but they are practically the same speed (11 min to boil 4 quarts versus 13 min). * Griddles. As far as I can tell, standard two burner rectangular griddles don't work. It's hard to find cast iron ones that are flat bottomed, and the carbon steel ones all have reviews saying they warped on induction. I solved this by getting a 12 inch round cast iron griddle, and that works well. * The rated sizes of the elements are misleading. The "11 inch" burner appears to only be 7 inches, and the "8 inch" burner appears to be only 5.25 inches. The specs discuss a minimum size, and I think this is the burner size based on heat measurements I took. As a result, for anything that requires uniform heat (crepes, pancakes), I use the 11 inch burner almost exclusively. The smaller ones all make a hot spot in the middle that is hard to manage. But the smaller ones are great for other uses (e.g. sauces). Anyway, all of these downsides are workable and I'm happy with the purchase. But I do wonder if I could have gotten similar performance from a cheaper model.

I replaced my Miele KM5773 with this as I couldn't get any qualified technician to take a look at the failed cooktop. It has been only a couple of days, and so only 2 things to complain and why I didn't give 5stars - kitchen timer cannot auto turn off a burner, and there are no numbers for the heat setting. E.g. I cannot tell my kids to set temperature at 6.

I love this cooktop--it heats very quickly, but is also very sensitive to temperature adjustments. Unlike my previous gas cooktop, when I boil water for pasta, it quickly returns to a boil after adding the pasta. The cooktop is sleek, attractive, and so easy to clean. I also like that it doesn't heat up the room when I cook.

Of course any product can be improved but I am fairly happy with this cooktop. The app is stupid - no ability to remotely turn off the elements; this would be a very useful feature for people who sometimes leave the house and forgot to turned off the stove. For me, the ability to turn off the burners remotely is a huge safety benefit, but for whatever reason they have not enabled this function.

Works great, fast heating in induction ready cookware. We had to recut out granite countertop as this cooktop is a little to big in the underneath metal compared to our previous gas stove. It does make a buzzing sound when used at highest setting which all induction stoves do, to be expected. This goes away at 70% heat. Wish the app could control the burner settings individually, it is too restrictive and under-featured, I recommend not using it, horrible app design implementation. We like the locking secure mode for avoiding children playing with it, peace of mind.

I have the php9036st model. The unit replaced a prior glass top ge unit with conventional electric burners. The unit does heat very fast and the burners are easy to select the desired setting. The controls are red when in use. The gray printing on the panel is too light and not easy to see. The tone generated by the timer is much too quiet. I contacted ge by phone and they didn't offer much help. Activating the options menu is not easy or straight forward. The bridge between the two smaller burners provides one single control but there is no heat between the two burners when the units are bridged. Several weaknesses in design. For the price this unit needs some improvements to be more user friendly. I chose it because it fit the cut out from the prior cooktop.

I always thought gas cooking would yield finer control. The new induction stovetop is faster to heat and quicker to cool because there is no hot burner that must cool before the cookware cools. Helps eliminate overcooking and burning more delicate foods.
